This month, the Escalator feature film Existence was premixed at Island Bay Studios and then mixed at Parkroad Post. It was a huge learning curve for me. Ive mixed films to 5.1 before but never such a huge project with so much atmospheric and textured sound design. The track count got up to something like 180 before i start premixing to brackets of 5.1 stem prints. Time was very short with only one week to premix and only three days at Parkroad to mix. Although i wish i could do it again and do it better, I am pleased with the results, and its a huge relief to be finished. – Nic McGowan (sound design).
